Course Aims: To introduce and define mediation Course content What is mediation? | How can I use mediation? | What makes a good referral? | What is conflict? | How to get the most out of mediation for you and your tenants 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- Conflict Awareness A half day course which examines conflict and where it comes from as well as examining our personal responses to conflict and listening skills that can be used to begin to deal with conflict Course Aims: To explore conflict Course content Causes of conflict | Conflict and housing| Understanding and dealing with conflict | Conflict and mediation | Conflict theory and practice 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- An Introduction to Conflict Resolution A half day course which unpacks the feelings and needs that lie beneath conflict and begins to use listening skills to develop conflict resolution techiniques Course Aims: To understand feelings and needs in relation to conflict Course content Causes of conflict | Feelings, needs and anger | Listening skills | Speaking without blaming | Using language that facilitates conflict resolution 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- Listening Skills A half day course introducing active listening and building the basic skills that help us listen in a way that helps us act and ensures that we hear the needs and feelings and not simply the problems of the people we are listening to. Course Aims: To develop active listening skills Course content Active listening | Empathy | Barriers to communication | Summarising | Asking useful questions | Communication skills 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- Assertiveness A half day course introducing the idea of assertiveness and helping us to practice it in our work and lives. What enables us to have our needs met and assert ourselves without aggression? How can we learn to say what we need clearly firmly and respectfully. Course Aims: Define and understand assertiveness Course content Body language | Needs and responses| Speaking 'from the I' | Introduction to communication skills | Observations, feelings, needs and requests 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- Cultural Awareness A half day course enabling us to look at the context in which we operate, build our understanding of the nature of discrimination, our approaches towards our own prejudice and learn about other people's experience Course Aims: To identify our own prejudices and to learn strategies for dealing with them Course content Assumptions and discrimination | What do I know? | Labelling | Cultural awareness | Who's who? | Building respect 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants ------- Personal safety A half day course looking at how to stay safe whilst working in difficult contexts with people who may be angry and aggressive. The course offers an introduction to assessing risk of violence and aggression and some strategies for making your working practice safer. Course Aims: To gain a realistic idea of risk and the approaches we can take to staying safe Course content Personal safety and the law | Risk assessment | Strategies for staying safe | Analysing current work | Safeguarding others 2.5 hour course | £250 for 6 - 20 participants |
